Whether you’re a die hard fan of the film or not, it’s safe to say that Kickass is one of the best action movies to have come out in recent years. The movie has been praised by critics and fans alike for its slew of witty dialogue, exciting action, and great special effects. And the movie’s cast is stacked with incredibly talented actors. Among the cast are Red Mist (the Motherfucker), Patience Lee (Kick-Ass), and Hit-Girl.
Patience Lee takes on the mantle of Kick-Ass
Earlier this year, Marvel introduced Patience Lee, a female African American military veteran and single mom, as the latest vigilante to take on the mantle of Kick-Ass. She’s a lot more impressive than her former counterpart, Dave Lizewski, who served as the hero in the first two Kick-Ass films.
Patience is a thirty-something black woman who served in Afghanistan. She also has two young children. She decided to use her military training to provide for her family.
The new Kick-Ass comic book is scheduled to debut in February. The title of the book is aptly named “Patience” and will introduce the new Kick-Ass. The series will also feature the return of creator Mark Millar and his creative team, which includes John Romita Jr., who will be back to draw the series.
Kidnappers
Featuring an impressive cast led by Oscar winning actress Halle Berry, Kidnappers is a tad on the slick side. While the movie does not deviate from the average businesstodaysnews blockbuster, there is enough to keep the viewer entertained for the hour and a half it takes to get through the whole thing. Despite the quality of the film, it does not feel like a work of art.
The film is a tad bit short on substance, with a storyline that lacks the finesse of its predecessors. One of the characters is a self-proclaimed expert on all things kidnapping, but her expertise is not as well-rounded as it might seem. Nonetheless, the film boasts a few fun moments, most notably a well-crafted cat slaying sequence.
Rescue by Hit-Girl
Taking place in a prison where the world’s first superhero team is being trained, Rescue by Hit-Girl for Kickass has both an avenging and villainous tone. It isn’t difficult to tell that the filmmakers are going for a Black Comedy. The movie’s fight scenes are a riot of gore, and set to pleasant music.
Hit-Girl has an H&K USP Compact with a tactical knife attachment. She also uses cluster F-bombs. Her night vision rampage is reminiscent of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. She is a trained hand-to-hand combatant. She is able to defeat people much larger than she is, and she can cleanly cut a thug’s leg.
She is also trained to use blunt weapons, which include knives. Hit-Girl is well-trained to take a bullet. She was trained by her father, and she is an expert at using weapons.
Red Mist’s return as the Motherfucker
Previously known as the Motherfucker, Red Mist makes a return in Kick-Ass 2. This super villain is the son of Frank D’Amico, a mobster. He wants revenge for the famousmagazinenow death of his father.
The Motherfucker’s character is intriguing. He is sort of a vigilante. He’s not always very good at what he’s trying to do. His only weapon is a handgun.
The original Kick-Ass movie was a witty, comic book-based action movie. The sequel, Kick-Ass 2, picks up the superhero theme with more dark humor and action. But the character of Kick-Ass isn’t as exciting as he was in the first movie. He doesn’t have much presence to go with his comic book-inspired costume.
Finally
Chris Genovese, the villain of the first movie, becomes the super villain Red Mist in Kick-Ass 2. His initial appearance is in a comic book store. Later, he becomes a major antagonist in the Kick-Ass graphic novel. He’s portrayed by Christopher Mintz-Plasse knowcarupdate.
